Schematics, circuits, PCBs and veroboards for guitar effects pedals.
The Box of Krunch is a pedal based on the popular Crunch Box, offering the same Marshall-in-a-Box tone. It provides the powerful sound of a cranked tube head in a compact pedal format. This version of the pedal includes some additional features to enhance your tone. The Presence pot, which was originally an internal trimmer, is now an optional external pot. This allows you to easily adjust the presence of your tone to your liking. It is highly recommended to include this feature. The Clipping selection feature is another addition to the pedal. It includes an optional board-mounted toggle switch and extra diode spots for alternative clipping options. This allows you to experiment with different diodes and create unique tones. The pedal comes with a selection of extra diodes, including 2x 1N34A, 3x 1N4148, 2x BAT46, and 2x blue LEDs. You can go ‘nuts’ and try different combinations to find your desired sound. The board of the pedal is designed with Mark M’s slightly modified tone control, but it can easily be reverted to the stock tone control with a single jumper wire if desired. It’s important to note that there are different box layouts available for this pedal. If you prefer a 3-knob version with a centralized tone control, you can only have this with wired pots. When ordering, please specify if this is the style you prefer. The Clipping pack includes the toggle switch, SIL sockets, and the selection of extra diodes mentioned earlier. These components allow you to customize the clipping options of your pedal.Overall, the Box of Krunch offers the classic Marshall-in-a-Box tone with added features for tone shaping and clipping options. It’s a versatile pedal that allows you to dial in your desired sound and experiment with different clipping configurations.
