Schematics, circuits, PCBs and veroboards for guitar effects pedals.
The Prince is a pedal based on the popular Prince of Tone overdrive. It uses BA282 diodes, as the original MA856 diodes are no longer available. These diodes have a forward voltage of 0.83, which is spot on for this pedal. The Prince is essentially one half of an Emperor overdrive, with some tweaks to make it more interesting. It is based around a Blues Breaker circuit but with added ‘fairy dust’ to give it a unique sound. One of the standout features of The Prince is its external toggle switch, which allows you to switch between Clean, Overdrive, and Distortion modes without having to take off the back of the pedal. This makes it easy to switch between different tones on the fly.In addition to the external toggle switch, The Prince also has two internal DIP switches that add even more versatility. The Lo-Mid lift switch emphasizes the low-mid frequencies, giving more emphasis to your fat strings. The Turbo mode switch adds extra gain to your higher gain settings, giving you more oomph when you need it.To further customize your tone, The Prince also has an internal trimmer that allows you to adjust the treble to your liking. The Prince is available in two different enclosure layouts. The original layout has the Tone control near the mode switch, but some may find this layout cluttered. For those who prefer a cleaner look, there is also a square control layout option. Both layouts have all the components board mounted, so you can choose the one that suits your preferences.Overall, The Prince is a versatile overdrive pedal that offers a range of tones and customization options. Whether you’re looking for a subtle boost or a full-on distortion, The Prince has you covered.
