The Polytrog is a clone of the vintage EHX Polyphase, known for its lush analog phasing. It is a six-stage optical phaser with a unique envelope control. The pedal has two modes: Envelope and Sweep. In Sweep mode, the phaser is controlled by the RATE and FDBK pots, while in ENV mode, a second, envelope-driven LFO is enabled. The ENV SENSE control adjusts the sensitivity of the envelope follower, while the ENV RATE sets the upper limit of the envelope-controlled LFO. The ENV MOD controls the depth or intensity of the envelope-controlled LFO. The RATE pot adjusts the speed of the automatic LFO, and the FDBK pot controls the amount of feedback. The T1 trimmer is used for calibration in the envelope circuit. Despite the challenges faced during development, the Polytrog is considered one of the best sounding optical phasers available.
