The Uno guitar pedal is a distortion stompbox that is based on the Boogie MkI amplifier. It was one of the first amps to offer distortion at lower volumes. The circuit is a modified version of a Fender design, with the power amp omitted from the circuit. The name Uno is a homage to both the Boogie version number and Carlos Santana, who famously said the amp “really boogied!”
The Uno pedal features several knobs that allow for customization of the sound. These include a Bass control, which can be reduced at high gain settings to avoid a muddy sound. Possible modifications to the pedal include changing the frequency response of the “speaker” section by altering the capacitors, thickening the sound by substituting a larger value capacitor, reducing the maximum available gain by adjusting resistors, and adding a small resistor to reduce or remove possible RF interference.
