Based On: Ampeg Scrambler

Aperture Octave Fuzz by Aion FX

The Aperture Octave Fuzz is a faithful adaptation of the Ampeg Scrambler, a rare and highly sought-after octave-up fuzz pedal from 1969. The original Scrambler is known for its unfiltered bass content and clean blend control, making it ideal for bass guitar. Ampeg reissued the Scrambler in 2005 and again in 2017, but these reissues have received mixed reviews and are not considered to sound like the original or the 2005 reissues.

The Aperture project aims to recreate the original 1969 Scrambler with some improvements. It includes an optional volume boost stage and a master volume control to address the low volume issue of the original unit. With the gain boost disabled and the Volume knob at full, the Aperture circuit is identical to a vintage Scrambler.

Overall, the Aperture Octave Fuzz offers bass players the opportunity to experience the legendary sound of the Ampeg Scrambler with some added enhancements for better functionality.
