The Big Alice Sound Enhancer is a circuit based on the BBE Sonic Maximiser. It is designed to enhance the sound by adding clarity and definition to your tone. The circuit can be adjusted to suit different rigs and settings. It functions as an EQ pedal and also provides a signal boost.
The circuit splits the signal into three parts – low, medium, and high frequencies – which can be controlled and modified separately. These parts are then mixed back together. There are two toggles that set the frequencies at which the low and process knobs work.
The Big Alice Sound Enhancer is a DIY version of the original units from the 80s. The original units used their own IC, which is now obsolete. In this DIY version, the various parts of the circuit that were contained in the IC are included on the board. While it is not an identical circuit, it performs the same function.
The Big Alice Sound Enhancer works well with guitar, bass, and acoustic instruments. It adds clarity and definition to your tone and can be adjusted to suit different setups.
