BITBREAKER DELUXE by Parasit Studio
The Bitbreaker Deluxe by Parasit Studio is an 8-bit sounding square wave fuzz pedal with 5 different octave down modes. It is based on the Attiny85 microcontroller chip and is housed in a small enclosure. The pedal features a built-in tune that plays at power-up. The designer wanted to create a pedal with similar functionality to the ‘8-Bitar’ single chip octave down, but with fewer components and a smaller footprint. They chose the Attiny85 because of its 8-pin DIP format. However, it took a lot of time and effort to program and debug the chip due to its lack of a serial monitor. Despite the challenges, the designer was able to make the pedal work and named it the Bitbreaker Deluxe. Due to the extensive time and effort invested in the pedal’s development, and the fact that it uses a microcontroller, the designer has decided not to offer it as a DIY project at this time.
