Bumblebee by Madbeanpedals

The BUMBLEBEE is a versatile pedal that combines a swell and compressor effect to create ambient textures and unique sounds. It has a wide attack range that allows for bowed guitar, reverse delay, and slow synth pad-style effects. The pedal can be blended with the optical compressor for a “blooming” effect or used separately to tighten up your tone. It works well with other pedals like the Blueprint or a reverb pedal.

The BUMBLEBEE was inspired by the Boss SG-1 Slow Gear pedal and went through a long evolution of design to achieve the desired slow swell effect. The addition of the compressor to the circuit allows for long swells without quick decay.

The controls on the BUMBLEBEE include:

– LEVEL: Sets the amount of gain in the output section, important for creating the perfect swell and avoiding volume drops.
– SUSTAIN: Sets the gain/sustain of the optical compressor. Higher settings result in more compression.
– ATTACK: Sets the speed of the swell effect, with a range determined by the S-F-M switch.
– MIX: Blends between the swell and compressor output sections, allowing for isolation or a unique “blooming” effect.
– TRIGGER: Adjusts the sensitivity of the swell effect, ensuring natural swell sounds.
– S-F-M: Sets the range of swells that the ATTACK control can achieve, with options for slow, fast, or medium.
– TBASS: A trimmer that balances the sensitivity of the swell from low to high notes.
– TWEAK, JFET: Trimmers used to optimize the swell effect with the 2n5457 JFET.

Overall, the BUMBLEBEE is a versatile pedal that offers a range of ambient and unique effects, suitable for both guitar and bass.
