The Chroma Parametric Boost is a modified version of the BOSS SP-1 Spectrum, a rare and sought-after pedal from the 1970s. The original SP-1 was a parametric equalizer with two knobs, allowing users to boost frequencies between 500Hz and 5kHz and adjust the dry-to-wet signal ratio. It functioned similar to a fixed wah pedal, providing a wah-like effect when the Spectrum knob was turned.
The Chroma Parametric Boost retains the functionality of the original SP-1 but adds a new feature – an output volume knob. This allows for precise trimming of the output volume for unity gain or using it as a booster with adjustable frequency emphasis. When used in conjunction with other overdrive pedals or to overdrive an amplifier, the Chroma Parametric Boost can produce unique drive tones that would be otherwise unattainable.
Overall, the Chroma Parametric Boost is a versatile pedal that combines the vintage sound of the BOSS SP-1 Spectrum with the added functionality of an adjustable output volume.
