The Collosalus is a flanger pedal that was first introduced in 2014. It was based on a project to convert the vintage MXR 117 to the MN3007 BBD. The original version was discontinued in 2018, but a redesigned version was released in 2022.
The 2022 version of the Collosalus operates on a standard 18v 100mA power supply, eliminating potential noise issues that were present in the previous version. However, instructions for using a charge pump with a 9v supply are provided for those who prefer that option.
The PCB layout has been converted to a 4-layer design, which helps reduce noise and improve signal routing.
The Collosalus features several controls:
– RATE: Controls the modulation speed of the flanger effect.
– WIDTH: Adjusts the depth of the effect.
– MANUAL: Creates fixed resonant peaks at different frequencies when turned up, interacting with the WIDTH control.
– REGEN: Controls the feedback of the flanger effect.
– BIAS: A trimmer used to adjust the bias input of the MN3007 for a clean delayed signal.
– LVL: Another trimmer that works in tandem with the REGEN control to prevent oscillation.
– CLOCK: A trimmer used to set the clock range for the BBD.
As of the latest update in February 2023, the board has been updated to revision 4.
