Graviton Metal Distortion by Aion FX

The Graviton Metal Distortion is a clone of the BOSS HM-2 Heavy Metal pedal, which was popular among extreme metal guitarists for its unique “buzzsaw” sound. The HM-2 was initially overlooked during its production but gained attention in the mid-1990s when Swedish death metal bands started using it to create their signature guitar tone. These bands would often turn all the knobs to 10 and run it into a cheap solid-state amp.

Despite its association with extreme metal, the HM-2 is a versatile pedal that can be used in various styles of music. It offers a balanced high-gain distortion tone that works well in different genres.

The Graviton Metal Distortion is based on the same circuit as the DOD FX-56 American Metal, which was released in 1984. Although the two pedals may not sound identical, they share a similar circuit layout, with the American Metal having different parts values and combining the two tone knobs into one. The Graviton PCB can be used to build the American Metal pedal.
