The Headtrip2 is an updated version of the original Headtrip pedal released in 2018. It now features eight different FX patches, with seven of them being new. The pedal utilizes the FV-1 DSP effects and aims to offer practical and musical effects with the ability to dial in unique and unusual sounds.
The controls on the Headtrip2 include CTRL1-3, which adjust various parameters of each internal patch. The specific function of these controls will vary depending on the selected patch. There is also a WET pot that sets the volume of the FX signal at the output, independent of the dry signal mix. The DRY pot controls the volume of the unaffected signal, also independent of the FX signal mix.
A rotary switch is used to select the active FX program, with a total of eight options to choose from. Additionally, there is a TAILS footswitch that allows for spillover effects. When engaged, it kills the dry signal into the FV-1, primarily used for delay or reverb effects to create a smooth decay or feedback rather than an abrupt cutoff. In other words, the TAILS switch turns off the FX while the pedal remains on.
The Headtrip2 aims to provide a range of fun and unique effects that can be applied to various musical settings. While there are limitations with the SPINCAD program used to assemble the patches, the designer believes they have created a compelling set of effects that push the boundaries while still being practical.
