Schematics, circuits, PCBs and veroboards for guitar effects pedals.
The Maxon AD-900 is an analog delay pedal that offers a unique voice, sitting between the percussive DM-2 and warm Memory Man delays. It uses one main clock and one slave clock for efficient and low-noise operation. The pedal can produce gritty repeats, which adds character to the analog delay sound.
The Man O’ War is a modification of the AD-900, adding two bypass options: Regular and Tails. The Regular bypass is a standard true bypass, while the Tails bypass allows delay repeats to spill over when the pedal is turned off. Both bypass options can be switched on the fly.
The Man O’ War Deluxe is the same delay circuit as the Man O’ War but with added optical modulation. This adds modulation to the delay sound, making it a more complex and slightly more expensive build.
The controls on the pedal include Delay, Feedback, Mix, Balance, Bias, Clock, Level, T1, Rate, Depth, and T/O/S. These controls allow for precise adjustment of delay time, number of repeats, delay level mix, balance between outputs, input bias calibration, clock range, delay signal output, feedback control point, modulation rate, modulation depth, and modulation waveform.
The Man O’ War can be powered by either 12v DC or 9v DC. Running it at 12v provides a bit more output and overall better sound quality. If running at 9v, some resistor values need to be changed for the LFO. This build is recommended for those with experience in pedal building and access to testing/prototyping equipment and an audio probe.
