The Milky Fuzz is a pedal that is based on the JT White Pedal, which was known for its outstanding fuzz tones. The inspiration for this pedal comes from the fuzz tones found on the Beatles’ White Album, which are widely regarded as some of the best fuzz tones ever recorded. The circuit of the Milky Fuzz captures the unique and wonderful tones of the onboard fuzz found in the 60s Vox solid state amplifiers, specifically the Supreme, Conqueror, and Virtuoso models. These amplifiers were known for their rich and powerful fuzz tones that added a raw and gritty edge to the guitar sound. While the Milky Fuzz can clean up nicely for subtler drive tones, it truly shines when cranked up. When pushed to its limits, it delivers an absolute raw delight of fuzz that will satisfy any fuzz enthusiast. One notable difference in the Milky Fuzz compared to the original pedal is the use of a 42TM013 transformer instead of a 500mH inductor for the mid shift section of the circuit. The original inductor can be difficult and expensive to source, so the 42TM013 transformer was chosen as a suitable alternative. While it may not sound exactly the same as the original, it is a commonly used solution in other circuits and has been deemed a suitable replacement. In summary, the Milky Fuzz is a pedal that captures the incredible fuzz tones of the 60s Vox solid state amplifiers. It offers a wide range of fuzz tones, from subtle drive to raw and powerful fuzz, making it a versatile and exciting addition to any guitarist’s pedalboard.
