The Sideswipe – Baxandall Tube Screamer is a modified version of the popular Tube Screamer pedal, inspired by the Sidecar. It offers more gain and a fatter bottom end, making it a worthwhile option for guitarists. The pedal features a Baxandall tone stack, allowing for versatile tone shaping. One unique aspect of this pedal is its choice of clipping. It uses a PNP germanium transistor, which adds its own flavor to the sound. The current version of the circuit includes two germanium diodes for clipping, suggesting recent updates. However, the original version still works well. The pedal can be powered with 9-18V, depending on the desired headroom. Modifying the clipping section is also an option for those who want to experiment further with the pedal’s sound.
