The Slow Loris is a clone of the Rat™ distortion pedal with some additional modifications. The pedal has three sets of clipping diodes: stock 1n914, LED, and asymmetrical. The middle position provides the most significant difference in sound compared to the outer two positions.
The Slow Loris has four controls: VOL, DIST, FILTER, and SWEEP. The VOL control adjusts the overall output level of the pedal. The DIST control adjusts the amount of distortion. The FILTER control reduces the high-end frequencies as it is turned clockwise. The SWEEP control, which is a 1k pot in series with R4, allows for changing the clipping frequency of the gain stage. Turning it up darkens the tone, particularly at lower gain settings. The SWEEP control is most noticeable when the DIST control is below 50%.
Additionally, the Slow Loris features a toggle switch labeled TXTRE. This switch allows for selecting between the three sets of clipping diodes: stock, LED, and asymmetrical. The stock and asymmetrical modes are closer in sound, with the asymmetrical mode being slightly louder and asymmetrical in nature.
Overall, the Slow Loris offers a textured distortion similar to the Rat™ pedal, with added flexibility through the SWEEP control and the option to choose between different clipping diodes using the TXTRE switch.
