The Tri-Vibe circuit is designed to provide both vibrato and phaser effects using commonly available parts. It differs from vintage circuits by not using BBDs (Bucket Brigade Devices) for the vibrato effect. Instead, it utilizes OTAs (Operational Transconductance Amplifiers) commonly found in phaser circuits.
The Tri-Vibe’s LFO (Low-Frequency Oscillator) has been optimized for the vibrato effect, resulting in true pitch vibrato rather than just deep phasing. This distinguishes it from circuits like the Univibe, which often refer to deep phasing as vibrato.
However, the Tri-Vibe also offers the option to mix the dry signal back in via a toggle switch. This allows it to achieve more traditional phaser tones similar to two-stage phasers like the Phase 45.
The Aion FX version of the Tri-Vibe is a direct adaptation of the original Runoffgroove circuit with no modifications, except for some additional power filtering. This ensures that the circuit remains true to the original design while improving power stability.
Overall, the Tri-Vibe circuit provides a simple and versatile solution for achieving both vibrato and phaser effects using commonly available parts.
