The Big Fluffy Pie – Bass Blender is a modified version of the Big Muff Pi pedal, specifically designed for bass players. It features a clean blend control, optional mids control, and an optional first-stage diode lift switch. The clean blend control allows you to mix in your original clean bass signal with the distorted signal from the Big Fluffy Pie, giving you more control over the overall tone and preserving the low-end frequencies of your bass. The mids control is optional and can be added to the standard tone section of the pedal. It allows you to adjust the midrange frequencies, giving you more flexibility in shaping your tone. There are four options for the tone section of the pedal: standard with no mids control, standard with a 3n9 cap for mids control, AMZ Presence mods V1, and AMZ Presence mods V2. The AMZ Presence mods provide additional tonal options and can be read about in more detail on the website.Lifting the first set of diodes in the circuit results in a more open and less compressed sound, which is particularly useful for bass players. The Big Fluffy Pie – Bass Blender is available as a kit for various versions of the classic Big Muff Pi pedal, including the 70’s (3rd) version, Green Russian, Black Russian, Civil War Russian, Tall Font Green Russian, Ram’s Head, Triangle, Violet Ram’s Head, V3 79#2 (Mascis), Creamy Dreamer, Stoned cleric, NYC Reissue, Elk Sustainer (NPN Version), and Mascis model. Each version of the pedal has its own unique characteristics and sound, and more information about these differences can be found on Kit Rae’s Big Muff Page, which is a comprehensive resource on all things related to the Big Muff Pi pedal.
