Buffered Bypass – Klon Type by Fuzzdog

The Buffered Bypass – Klon Type is a pedal that incorporates a buffer circuit before the main effect circuit. The purpose of the buffer is to maintain the integrity of your guitar signal by preventing any loss of high frequencies or impedance mismatch that can occur when driving long cable runs or multiple pedals. In this design, the buffer is placed before the footswitch, ensuring that your signal is always passing through the buffer circuit. This means that even when the main effect circuit is bypassed, your signal is still buffered and protected from any potential signal degradation. The signal flow is as follows: your guitar signal enters the pedal through the input jack, then passes through the buffer circuit, which boosts and buffers the signal. From there, the signal is routed to the footswitch, which engages or bypasses the main effect circuit. Finally, the buffered signal exits the pedal through the output jack. This design offers a simple and compact solution for adding a buffer to your pedalboard without taking up additional space. By incorporating the buffer directly onto the footswitch daughterboard, you can enjoy the benefits of a buffered bypass without sacrificing any extra pedalboard real estate.
