Eggsploder by Madbeanpedals

In 2021, the author decided to build some classic effects that they had overlooked for a long time. They were initially unimpressed with the Scrambler based on demos they had heard, but after breadboarding the circuit, they fell in love with its unique rawness and pronounced octave up sound. It works well on both bass and guitar, with the Balance control allowing for a mix of clean and fuzz, particularly useful for bass.

The Eggsploder is an enhanced version of the Scrambler, featuring an added output gain stage for a boost if desired. It also includes a “Splode” mode, which was accidentally discovered during breadboarding. This mode introduces a cool sonic effect that nearly breaks the fuzz but not quite, similar to adding eggs into hot bacon grease.

The controls on both pedals include VOL for effect output level, BAL for blending clean and fuzz (especially useful for bass), TEXTR for adding texture to the fuzz and introducing an octave up sound, and SPLODE for switching between normal mode and Splode mode. Splode mode produces sub-octaves and gated sounds, creating a chaotic and unique effect.

The author expresses gratitude to Dan from Blammo Electronics for his assistance and recommends checking out his Skrambler pedal on his website.
