The Exploder Fuzz is a fuzz pedal that is based on the Erupter, but with some added features. It is designed to provide a Fuzz Face-style fuzz sound without any complications. One of the key features of the Exploder Fuzz is the inclusion of a buffer at the front of the circuit. This helps to ensure that the pedal works well in any position in your signal chain. Additionally, a transformer is used to simulate the sound of a pickup, further enhancing the versatility of the pedal.Unlike some fuzz pedals, the Exploder Fuzz does not have a Fuzz control. Instead, it is designed to provide maximum fuzz all the time. The original version of the pedal also does away with the Volume control, with the volume being set by an internal trimmer. However, the kit version of the pedal offers the option to include a Volume control knob if desired. The main control on the Exploder Fuzz is the Bias control. This control allows you to adjust the bias of the circuit, which affects the overall tone and output of the pedal. The baseline bias is set using another internal trimmer, but the Bias control allows for further tweaking and customization. In terms of components, the original version of the pedal uses expensive and hard-to-source transistors. However, the kit version of the pedal comes with 2N2222 transistors, which are more readily available and still provide a great sound.Overall, the Exploder Fuzz offers a simple and versatile fuzz pedal option, with the ability to customize the volume and bias settings to suit your preferences.
