Flangelicious by Electric Druid
The Flangelicious pedal is a unique flanger pedal that uses a microprocessor to generate an LFO-modulated clock signal, resulting in a cleaner and simpler design with a fully-analog signal path. The pedal can be built with just four 8-pin ICs, making it less complicated than other flanger pedals on the market.
The Flangelicious comes in two versions: a classic four-knob flanger and an experimental multi-waveform flanger. The classic version offers control for manual flanger frequency, depth, rate, and resonance, while the experimental version includes an LFO with eight waveforms and a “manual” mode for fixed flanger filtering effects. Both versions can be built with the same PCB and can use either 1024-stage or 256-stage BBDs for different tonalities.
The analog signal path of the Flangelicious remains the same as other flanger pedals, with an input mixer, pre-BBD filter, BBD, post-BBD filter, and output mixer. The PCB can accept either MN3209 256-stage delay lines or MN3207 1024-stage delay lines. The pedal also includes tone-shaping components to boost harmonics and roll-off noise.
Overall, the Flangelicious offers a unique and simplified design for a flanger pedal, with the option to choose between a classic or experimental version. The use of a microprocessor allows for added features while maintaining an analog signal path.
