The FlatLine Compressor is a variation of the Flatline Compressor designed by John Hollis. It features a relatively low number of parts and is an optical compressor. It offers a middle ground between subtle compression and heavy compression.By adjusting the sustain control, you can achieve approximately 3 times gain between a soft and hard signal. When fully dialed, the gain reaches 20 times, resulting in a super flat output with extended sustain.Instead of using a custom LED/LDR combination, the FlatLine Compressor utilizes an NSL-32 optocoupler. This eliminates the need for DIY experimentation and ensures consistent performance. Additionally, the original germanium diodes have been replaced with BAT46 diodes, which offer a tighter specification compared to vintage diodes. The partial kit includes the PCB, all board-mounted components, and pots.
