Harbinger 1.5 by Madbeanpedals

The Harbinger 1.5FX is a Univibe-type pedal that has been redesigned with an improved PCB layout. It can be powered by either a 9v supply with a charge pump or an 18v supply without a charge pump. It also has an optional input buffer that increases output and brightness. The audio portion of the circuit runs on 18v for added headroom, while the LFO section uses a regulated 15v supply line.

The pedal features two trimmers that allow for fine-tuning of the lamp action. One trimmer adjusts the brightness of the lamp, while the other controls the amount of shutoff between peaks. Film caps are used in the audio path instead of electrolytic caps.

The new design of the Harbinger 1.5FX includes a better layout, with pots at the top and switches underneath. It also has space for top-mounted jacks. The LFO section has better isolation from the audio components, reducing noise or ticking. There is also the ability to use a PCB mounted pot for the dual-gang 100kC pot.

The controls on the Harbinger 1.5FX include SPD for adjusting the rate of modulation, INT for controlling the intensity or depth of modulation, VOL for adjusting the output volume, and C/V for selecting between a chorus effect or vibrato effect. The MOD/VIN switch allows for selecting between the traditional input and a JFET buffer input, which provides more output volume and brightness. There are also two trimmers, GAIN and OFFSET, for adjusting the brightness and ramping of the lamp’s brightness.
