The meatqlaw is based on the Colorsound Power Boost, which was one of the first commercially available “overdrivers” for electric guitar. It was designed to drive high headroom amps into higher amounts of compression and produce a significant amount of volume. The “Gain” control on the meatqlaw is equivalent to the “volume” control on the Power Boost and has around 8-10dB of gain at the minimum setting. The dirt it produces is not necessarily great sounding on its own, but when combined with a tube amp or another overdrive or fuzz pedal, it can create delicious tones.
The controls on the meatqlaw are as follows:
– VOL: This is the master output control. Even a small adjustment can result in a significant increase in volume.
– GAIN: This control slowly increases the gain and output until the last 10% where it jumps into fuzz.
– BASS, TREBLE: These controls allow you to cut or boost the bass frequencies. When both the Treble and Gain controls are maxed out, increasing the Treble can also increase the overall fuziness of the sound.
