Mr. EQ by runoffgroove.com

The Mr. EQ is a DIY equalizer pedal that allows users to shape the response of their instrument or effects. It features three peaks at different frequencies – 100 Hz, 700 Hz, and 2.1 kHz – which can be activated individually to provide a 7 dB boost. The MID peak also has the option to produce a 7 dB cut, allowing for more flexibility in shaping the tone.

The circuit of the Mr. EQ is built around a 4049 IC, known for its tube-like clipping and multiple available stages. To preserve treble content, high-pass filters are used before each peak stage. The LO peak adds more bass to a guitar or bass, the MID peak functions as a relative treble peak for a bass guitar, and the HI peak adds a crisp sheen to a guitar.

In total, there are 11 different equalization curves that can be achieved with the Mr. EQ, excluding the flat setting with all bands off. Users are encouraged to experiment with different settings and pickup switching to find the best combination for their gear and playing style.
