Vector Ambient Delay by Aion FX

The Vector Ambient Delay is a DIY delay pedal project that is based on the Mad Professor Deep Blue Delay. It uses the PT2399 delay chip, which is technically digital but has a warm and analog-voiced sound similar to a tape delay unit. This makes it a great option for those who want the characteristics of an analog delay without the higher cost and complexity of a BBD-based delay.

The Vector Ambient Delay is designed to be easy to build and has a few modifications and improvements compared to the original Deep Blue Delay. It is equally suited for short slapback effects or longer rhythmic repeats, making it versatile for different musical styles and applications.

The new version of the Vector Ambient Delay removes compatibility with the Rebote 2.5, a different delay chip, in order to simplify the build process. However, the previous version of the Vector is still available if you prefer the option to use the Rebote 2.5.

Ultimately, the sound of the Vector Ambient Delay will be subjective and dependent on your personal preferences. However, even analog purists have given high praise to this circuit, highlighting its warm and analog-like characteristics. Considering its lower complexity and cost compared to a true analog delay, it is worth trying out the Vector Ambient Delay before investing in a more expensive option.
