Azure Analog Chorus by Aion FX

The Azure Analog Chorus is highly regarded for its use of analog BBDs (Bucket Brigade Devices) to modulate the signal, resulting in a warm and rounded tone that is characteristic of the era it was inspired by. It is based on the legendary BOSS CE-2 chorus pedal, which was first released in 1979 and is widely considered to be one of the best chorus pedals ever made.

The CE-2B Bass Chorus, released almost a decade later in 1987, was essentially the same circuit as the CE-2 but with a modification in the audio path to better suit bass guitars. It also introduced a Mix knob to blend in the wet signal.

The Azure Analog Chorus is based on the original CE-2 circuit but incorporates the Mix knob from the CE-2B. When the mix knob is turned all the way up, it replicates the stock circuit of the CE-2, allowing for the original intensity of the effect. However, the mix knob also provides the flexibility to dial back the intensity slightly while still preserving the original character of the pedal.

Additionally, the Azure can be built to accommodate either the MN3007 or MN3207 (v3207) BBDs by adjusting some on-board jumpers. This is particularly useful as the production of new BBDs has been significantly slowed down due to shortages of materials. The ability to use either BBD allows for greater availability of compatible parts.

Overall, the Azure Analog Chorus is a highly regarded chorus pedal that pays homage to the iconic BOSS CE-2 while offering some additional features and flexibility. Its warm and rounded tone, achieved through the use of analog BBDs, makes it a sought-after pedal for musicians looking to recreate the classic chorus sounds of the past.
