Monad Vintage Boost by Aion FX

The Monad Vintage Boost is a modified version of the Univox Uni-Drive UD-50, a foot-controlled transistor boost pedal famously used by Jimmy Page. The original Uni-Drive had a wah-style enclosure, with the foot pedal controlling the overall volume and a rotary switch setting the input attenuation, which determines the amount of transistor clipping.

In the Monad Vintage Boost, the rotary switch has been converted to an actual potentiometer, allowing for more precise control. The range control, which was originally used for a treadle, has been merged into the output volume control.

Additionally, two modifications have been made to the pedal. The first is an input capacitor blend control, which allows you to reduce the bass content and achieve more of a treble boost rather than a full-range boost. This modification is commonly seen on vintage pedals without tone controls, such as the Fuzz Face and Dallas Rangemaster.

The second modification is an internal trimmer that adjusts the amount of feedback from the third stage back to the first stage. The default resistor in the original pedal is 8.2k, but by setting it higher or lower, you can achieve interesting tonal variations.

Overall, the Monad Vintage Boost offers improved control and additional tonal options compared to the original Univox Uni-Drive UD-50.
