The P45 Phaser is a modified version of the Phase 45 pedal, designed to offer some additional features and tweaks. While it may not be as intense as the Phase 90, it still provides pleasant swirling phase effects. The board of the P45 Phaser includes a few extras compared to the standard one-knob pedal. These additions were designed by JC Maillet in 2003. One of the optional features is a Mix control, which allows you to adjust the sound between a traditional phase effect and a pitch-shifting vibrato effect. This gives you more versatility in shaping your desired tone.Another optional feature is the Pseudo Univibe mode switch. While it’s not a true univibe effect, it offers a similar vibe-like sound. This adds another layer of sonic possibilities to the pedal.Additionally, the P45 Phaser offers the option of an external pot for the bias control, instead of an internal trimmer. This allows you to easily tweak the bias control when switching between Phase and Vibe modes, giving you more control over the pedal’s sound. However, FuzzDog HQ (the company behind the P45 Phaser) recommends keeping the pedal simple and no longer offers the Mix and Bias controls as part of the kit. Once you find the sweet spot for the bias control, you’ll likely want to keep it there. The same goes for the mix control. However, they still suggest adding the vibe switch, as it adds a unique and worthwhile feature to the pedal.
