Theseus Dual Overdrive by Aion FX

The Theseus Dual Overdrive is a boutique pedal that is based on the Analogman King of Tone. It features two modified Marshall Bluesbreaker circuits in series, allowing for independent switching of each channel. This means that each channel can be used on its own or stacked together for a more complex and natural overdriven sound.

The King of Tone has gained immense popularity since its release in 2003 and currently has a waitlist of around 4 ½ years. It is known for its versatility and ability to produce a wide range of overdrive tones. Each channel of the King of Tone has an internal presence control and DIP switches that control the clipping diode configuration.

Analogman introduced a “high gain” modification in 2009, which can now be selected per channel with the addition of a third DIP switch position in the Theseus Dual Overdrive. This allows for even more customization and flexibility in shaping the overdrive tones.

In addition to being a direct clone of the King of Tone, the Theseus Dual Overdrive also includes a send/return loop between the channels. This allows for the pedals to be split up and used in different parts of the pedalboard, or for other pedals such as boosts or EQs to be inserted between them for additional tone shaping. If nothing is plugged into the send/return jacks, the loop is disabled.

Analogman released a single-channel version of the King of Tone called the Prince of Tone in 2012. Aion FX offers a clone of the Prince of Tone called the Achilles Amp Overdrive.
