The EpiPen is a unique take on the ClinchFX® EP-PRE™ style JFET boost, which is based on the input section of the Echoplex™ tape delay. It is not a clone, but rather a modified version designed for split-rail operation with an added output buffer. The buffer ensures a consistent, low impedance output that works well with other effects.
The EpiPen features several controls. The PRE control adjusts the gain, with the highest setting around 2/3rd to 3/4 up. Beyond that, the output will be slightly reduced. The POST control is a volume control after the buffer. It can be set all the way up to use the PRE control as the sole gain control, or it can be used to reduce the output when the MORE switch is engaged.
Speaking of the MORE switch, it is in the stock setting when in the down position. When switched up, it provides additional output gain and more low-end response.
Lastly, there is a BIAS trimmer used to bias the output of Q1.
